Danil Akimov

Starting his dance journey at a young age, Danil quickly found success with numerous victories in national and international competitions. Early years and career beginnings

Danil Akimov showed an extraordinary interest in the art of dance from a young age. Recognizing his passion and talent, his parents enrolled him in ballroom dance at the age of six in Odessa, at the SLAVA Dance Club. His trainers were Vyacheslav Marinescu and Alena Starodubskaya, who have coached multiple World Championship finalists.

The gifted boy improved very quickly. Daily training sessions lasting 4-5 hours and participation in numerous tournaments brought results. In 2018, Danil Akimov and his partner Anastasia Tereshchenko became the Absolute Champions of Ukraine in sports ballroom dancing in all categories, including Latin, Standard and 8 Dance, at the Ukrainian Championship. This victory marked the beginning of a series of wins at various tournaments both within the country and across Europe.

Danil Akimov excellently balanced his dance sport with his studies. He possesses an incredible memory, capable of learning a lengthy poem in just 10 minutes over a cup of morning tea and reciting it perfectly. After finishing elementary school in 2019, he independently enrolled in the Odesa Mariinsky Gymnasium and received his certificate of completion for 9 grades in 2024. Additionally, in 2019, he enrolled in IT Academy Step and received his diploma in 2024. Alongside dancing, he also practiced sports gymnastics.

Danil Akimov is very versatile, loves to improve himself, and never stops at what he has achieved. In 2020, he also took acting courses at “Theater21” led by the incredibly talented actress Olga Pantileeva. She imparted a wealth of knowledge to Danil about stage performance and self-presentation.

Achievements

Due to Anastasia Tereshchenko moving to another country in 2021, Danil Akimov partnered with Kateryna Koroyeva. After five months of intense training, they secured second place at the Ukrainian Cup in the Junior 1 category for 10 dances. Because of the war in Ukraine, Danil and his family moved to Canada in May 2022. Shortly after, he was invited by the Grand Dance studio and partnered with Anna Osminina. After three months of training, on August 30, 2022, at the Canadian National Championship in the Junior 2 category, they stood on the podium with a silver in Standard and a bronze in Latin. Six months later, on April 28, 2023, in Calgary at the Canadian Closed Dancesport Championship in WDSF, Danil and Anna became the Champions of Canada and received an invitation to the World Championship held in Bremen, Germany.

In 2023, at the World Championship, Danil and Anna ranked among the top 15 couples in the world for Standard and the top 18 couples for Latin. Over the year, Danil and Anna participated in more than 20 tournaments, winning the majority of them. A significant event in Danil's dance career was their participation in the NDCC Canadian Championship 2023, held in Ottawa, Canada, where they secured third place in the Latin program and second place in the Standard program. Incredibly talented and determined, Danil Akimov continued to discover new opportunities in the world of dance every day.

In July 2023, Danil participated in the Manhattan Dance Championship in New York, USA, and secured second place in Standard. In October 2023, at the Ohio Star Ball international tournament in Columbus, Danil won first place in Latin and third place in Standard. Throughout 2023, Danil participated in all major tournaments in America, consistently placing in the top three. In March 2024, at the American Championship in the Junior 2 category, Danil became the Champion in the Latin program and the Champion in the 10 Dance program, earning an invitation to represent America at the World Championship.
